John J. Jelen

John “Jim” J. Jelen, 68, of Independence, formerly of Milwaukee, died May 17, 2011 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in Arcadia. John was employed by the Louis Allis Company until his retirement. He was a Viet Nam war veteran. Survivors include his sister, Shirley Gamroth of Independence; nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hilda (Abrahamson) Jelen and brother-in-law, George Gamroth. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, with Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
