Ruth E. Johnson

Ruth E. Johnson, 84, of Osseo, died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Mayo Health System-Osseo Nursing Home. She was born April 11, 1927 in Osseo to John and Clara (Torpen) Evenson. She married Maurice "Kooga" Johnson on February 25, 1946 in Iowa. He died April 30, 1986. Ruth graduated from Osseo High School in 1945. She was a telephone operator in Osseo and later worked a various day care facilities and also cared for her grandchildren. She was a member of Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include ten children, Kari Jo Johnson of Blair, Jerald Johnson of Osseo, Marge Johnson of Levis, Beverly Kittelson of Osseo, Dale Johnson of Northfield, Julie Brackin of Cochrane, LeRoy Johnson of Osseo, Bonnie (Todd) Holmen of Strum, Joe (Julie) Johnson of Osseo and Shelly Johnson of Fairchild; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Donna Sturz, son-in-law, Lonnie G. Sturz, a son, Richard Johnson; two grandchildren, Tom Livingston and Travis Dale Johnson; two brothers, James and Clifford Evenson and two sisters, Mabel in infancy and Stella Olson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Lewis Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Osseo Cemetery.
