Kathy Sonsalla

INDEPENDENCE – Kathleen "Kathy" Sonsalla, 64, of Independence, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was born July 4, 1947 in Stevens Point, Wis., to Earl and Regina (Stanczyk) Soule. She married Edward "Sonny" L. Sonsalla February 4, 1967 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Arcadia. Kathy will always be remembered for her generosity. She was a second "mom" to everyone that walked into her life. Throughout her struggle with ALS, she continued to put the needs of others first and foremost. The Independence Wrestling Booster Club will miss a dedicated member. She enjoyed outdoor gardening, ceramics and sewing. Survivors include her husband, Edward of Independence; four children, Dawn (Jody) Wood of Independence, Scott (Loretta) Sonsalla of San Antonio, Texas, Travis Sonsalla of Independence, Kari Stojadinovic of Rhinelander, Wis.; a brother, Pat (Sue) Soule of Madison; ten grandchildren, Damian, Mikaela and Blayze Wood, Chanse, Lucy, Gavin, Cora and Sebastian Sonsalla, Hunter and Sayge Stojadinovic. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Soule. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
