Gary Everson, 68, of Irvin Coulee, rural Whitehall, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics, Whitehall. Gary was born May 4, 1944 in Whitehall, Wis., to Roderick and Valborg (Thomte) Everson, grandson of Carl and Ida (Hanson) Thomte and Claude and Anna (Mortenson) Everson. He married Sandy Knudtson on August 2, 1980 in Whitehall. Gary attended Irvin Coulee Country School and graduated from Whitehall Memorial High School in 1962. He graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1966 majoring in History. He was very involved in campus ministry with Lutheran Student Association. Gary was a lifelong farmer. He was Town of Preston Supervisor for 27 years and on the Tri-County Memorial Hospital Board 26 years. He belonged to the Farmer's Union. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, served on the church council and was past-president. He was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir over 50 years. He also sang with the Farmers Four Quartet. Gary loved history and politics and was a lifelong DEMOCRAT! He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; special and precious daughter, Jennie Lynn; two sisters, Carol Everson of Eau Claire and Janet Lyle of Oregon, Wis.; mother-in-law, Fern Knudtson of Whitehall; Godmother and great-aunt, Alice Thomte of Whitehall; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, their families; numerous friends and acquaintances. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with burial in Lincoln Cemetery, both in Whitehall. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to services.
