Theodore T. Filla

Theodore “Ted” Filla, 91, of Independence, died on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall, Wis. He was born April 14, 1922 in Montana Township, Buffalo County, to Charles and Helen (Klimek) Filla. He married Bernice Marsolek on May 12, 1947 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The couple farmed in Montana Township until moving to Independence. Ted was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and Rosary Society. Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Independence; daughter, Ruth (Dick) Rasmussen of Bloomington, Minn.; son, Roger Filla of Arcadia; sister, Julia Sobotta of Arcadia; brother, Rufus Filla of Whitehall; step-granddaughter, Sharon (John Sprague) Rasmussen-Sprague; two step-great-grandchildren, Jovana and Samahra Sprague. Ted was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Filla; two sisters, Betty Jane Filla and Verna Roskos; sister-in-law, Martha Filla and two brothers-in-law, Edmund Sobotta and Roy Roskos. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
