Robert V. Wolf

Robert V. Wolf (Bob), 77, of Ankeny, Iowa, father of Linda Wolf Baxa, passed away peacefully from cancer on November 13, 2013. Bob and his wife Gini were supported for many months by Care Initiatives Hospice. Memorial Mass with Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm on Saturday November 30, 2013 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence, WI. Internment will take place in the church cemetery. Following services, cocktail hour and dinner will be held at the Whitehall Golf and Country Club. A previous visitation and Mass was held at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. Bob was born in Chicago, IL to Helene (Betty) and Edward William Wolf Sr. on May 31, 1936. He married Margaret Wertzler in 1959. Bob served his military duty at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Margaret and Bob had two children, Linda and Robert Wolf Jr. In 1982, Bob moved to Ankeny, IA. He married Virginia (Gini) Berg-Yach on October 15, 1983. He owned the Old World Deli & Catering in Ankeny, and retired from Wonder-Hostess in 1998. Bob was an avid sportsman. He loved fishing, hunting, and boating. The annual deer hunting season in Wisconsin with his grandsons was especially important to him. In retirement, he faithfully managed the errands and cooking during Gini’s working years, and greatly enjoyed coffee time with his friends. He and Gini participated for many years in volunteer activities with Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart parish, AARP, Just Faith, Connection Café, and Wesley Life Hospice among others. His ministry and the women of the REC community at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women held a special place in his heart for over 25 years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother. He is survived by his wife Virginia B Wolf (Gini), his children Linda (Bill) Baxa of Independence, WI and Bob (Marilou) Wolf of Virginia Beach, VA. Grandchildren are Lauren, Daryl, and Taylor Baxa; Amanda and Eric Wolf; Gini's son, Steven (Maria) Yach of Yorba Linda, CA and Gini’s Grandchildren Christopher, Adam and Stefan Yach.
