LaVerne E. Killian

LaVerne E. Killian Sr., 84, of Independence, died Monday, November 17, 2014 at Marinuka Manor Nursing Home, Galesville. LaVerne was born August 27, 1930 in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County, to Paul and Agnes (Bautch) Killian. He married Esther Dubiel May 23, 1950 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. The couple farmed in Burnside Township. He loved sports, fishing and especially deer hunting. He was a good mechanic and could fix anything! Survivors include his wife, Esther of Independence; four children, Laverne E. Killian Jr. of Independence, David P. (Bev) Killian of Whitehall, James P. Killian Sr. of Independence and Judy (Bärry) Schmitt of Independence; sister, Jeanette Wiench of South Milwaukee; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Marcel and Dominic Killian. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating.
