Jerald N. “Jess” Johnson, 63, of Fairchild, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Osseo. He was born March 9, 1952 in Eau Claire to Maurice “Kooga” and Ruth (Evenson) Johnson. He married Nona Coyle. They later divorced. He served in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam War. He was a member of Carl Nelson American Legion Post 324. He enjoyed hunting, horse pulling and spending time with his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. Jess is survived by his son, Jason (Tara) Johnson of Marshfield; two granddaughters, Corianne and Kaydee Johnson; three brothers, LeRoy Johnson and Joe (Julie) Johnson, both of Osseo, and Dale Johnson of Northfield; six sisters, Marge Johnson and Beverly Kittelson both of Osseo, Kari Jo Johnson of Blair, Julie Brackin of Cochrane, Bonnie (Todd) Holmen of Strum and Shelly Johnson of Fairchild; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Sturz, brother, Richard Johnson and three nephews, Tom Livingston, Travis Dale Johnson and Larry Oium. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, followed by military rites. Burial will be at a later date.
