Leon L. Ehmen

Leon Ehmen, 68, of Independence, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 22, 2015 at his home. Leon was born November 1, 1946 in Champaign, Ill. to Albert J. and Nora (Rewerts) Ehmen. He married Carlotta A. Wylie on March 27, 1971 in Orlando, Fla. Leon served in the Air Force, loved to play softball, was an avid antique collector and auctioneer. He worked most of his life as an insurance agent to which he loved driving around the countryside to see his clients. He was a proud fan of the fighting Illini, Chicago Bears and anyone that played the Packers. Survivors include his wife, Carlotta of Independence; two children, Ryan (Stephanie) Ehmen of Naples, Fla. and Emily (Jacob) Forbes of Midlothian, Texas; two grandsons, Hayden Forbes and Grayson Ehmen and baby Forbes arrival due any day; father, Albert J. Ehmen of Gifford, Ill; two sisters, Donita (Lynn) Osterbur of Ogden, Ill and Lonna Ehmen Osterbur of Champaign, Ill; nieces and nephews, Chad (Renee), Chris (Lisa), Brad (Abbie), Nick (Zoe Johnson) and Courtney (Craig Boone) Osterbur and Hollly (Jeremy) Wilson and sister-in-law, Reba (Tony) Wilson. Leon will be remembered forever for the dedication and unconditional love for his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nora L. Rewerts. Visitation will be 11-3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, Wis. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at Beckman Cemetery, rural Rantoul, Ill.
