Steven J. Olson

Steven J. Olson, 61, of Whitehall, formerly of Independence, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. Steve was born April 15, 1954 in Whitehall to Leonard and Lillian Carol (Peterson) Olson. Steve served in the U. S. Navy from 1979 until 1994. He currently worked at Ashley Furniture in Arcadia. Survivors include two children, Tina (Rob) Olson of Appleton and Jeffery Olson of Menasha; two grandchildren, Andrew and Leah Olson of Appleton; eight siblings, Leona (special friend, Amos Hovey) Moga of Pigeon Falls, Patty (Jerry) Schneider of West Bend, Janet (special friend Ernie Falkenberg) Kampa of Independence, Conrad (Gloria) Olson of Independence, Spencer (Jeanine) Olson of Whitehall, Michael (Lynn) Olson of Independence, Diana (Jerome) Halverson of Arcadia and Daniel Olson of Whitehall; sister-in-law, Barbara Olson of St. Charles, Ill.; nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Allen and Leslie Olson and a brother-in-law, James J. Kampa. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, with Rev. Terry Lorenz officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Bethel Cemetery, rural Independence. Visitation will be held from noon until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
