Trudy Niedzielko

Trudy Niedzielko, 59, of Independence, died Friday, January 15, 2016 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. Trudy was born May 29, 1956 in Whitehall, to Sidney and Janet (Sonsalla) Peterson. She married Russell Niedzielko October 2, 1976 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Whitehall. Trudy worked as a nurse’s aide at Tri-County Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home for many years. She loved working with the elderly! Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed family get-togethers. Trudy was a very loving wife and mother and she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved animals. She loved to sing and listen to music. Trudy was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Whitehall. She fought a long, hard battle with Multiple Sclerosis, which she handled with strength and grace. Trudy is survived by her husband, Russell of Independence; two daughters, Lynn (Darwin) Manecke of Rice Lake and Lisa (Kristopher) Hammes of La Crosse; mother, Janet Peterson of Whitehall; sisters, Susan Peterson of Holmen and Peggy Holty of La Crosse; brothers, James (Lori) Peterson of Blair, William Peterson of Eleva, Corey (significant other, Heather Nelson) Peterson of Galesville, and Daniel (Rachel) Peterson of Burlington, Wis.; brother-in-law, James Coil of Cumberland; grandchildren, Brycen and Jaden Manecke and Erika Hammes; uncle, aunts, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney and sister, Dora Coil. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Whitehall. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Whitehall. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
