Dorothy M Ryan

Dorothy M. Ryan, 86, of Independence, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire. Dorothy was born April 1, 1930 in Elk Creek to Lawrence and Mary (Browskowski) Marsolek. She grew up on a farm on Montana Ridge in Buffalo County. She married Jesse Ryan on July 18, 1959 in Mondovi. He died November 1, 1991. Dorothy worked at Gopher Glove in Independence for many years until retirement in her 70's. She enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking, fishing and her dogs. Survivors include four children, Rita Severson of Eleva, Ernie (Sandy) Ryan of La Crosse, Janice (Rick) Rombalski of Independence and Gerry Ryan of Trempealeau; nine grandchildren, Travis (Leanne), Troy (Wendy), Jessica, Andy (Carrie), Shelby, Hali, Carly, Shyanne and Shaysie; seven great-grandchildren, Kari, Mel, Ryan, Abbey, Eli, Camden and Hunter; sister, Elaine (Larry) Johnson of Pigeon Falls; special friend Irene Helgeson. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Helen Wiersgalla. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, with Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
