Regina Skroch

INDEPENDENCE – Regina Skroch, 94, of Independence, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall. She was born January 30, 1916 in Geneseo, N.D., to Frank and Sophia (Bautch) Murack. Regina married James P. “Jake” Skroch on January 17, 1939 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Independence. He died June 16, 1995. Regina was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, its Women’s Organization, Rosary Society, and Funeral Luncheon Committee. Regina was the first hot-lunch cook at SS. Peter & Paul School and cooked there for ten years. Survivors include two sons, LaVern (Mary) Skroch of Trempealeau and James D. (Sandy) Skroch of North St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Ann Sylla of Whitehall; a half-brother, James Murack of Greenfield, Wis.; a half-sister, Virginia Lukesavage of Milwaukee; a special niece and nephew, Jerry Murack and Theresa Presnall; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Regina was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, LaVern Sylla; brother, Max Murack; four half-sisters, Lorraine Kuchynke, Mary and Katherine Murack, and Margie Gerzeck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. David C. Kunz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday followed by a rosary at the funeral home.
