ALTOONA – Clayton Edison, 95, of Altoona, formerly of Eau Claire, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his residence at Oak Gardens in Altoona. He was born August 11, 1914 in Chimney Rock Township, Trempealeau County, to George and Josephine (Austin) Edison. Clayton married Stella Knutson on January 27, 1945 in Eleva. She died February 11, 1999. The couple farmed in East Bennett Valley until moving to Eau Claire in 1967. He worked at National Presto Industries until retirement. Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Karen) of Fall Creek and Donald (Sandra) of Minong; three daughters, Janel Crow of Dover, Del., Jane (Kenneth) Tompkins of Eau Claire and Tish (Billy) Pray of Oakdale, Minn.; a sister, Gloria Winberg of Evansdale, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Clayton was preceded in death by his wife; son-in-law, Jeff Crow; granddaughter-in-law, Kelly and four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaylee, Jessup and Kyle. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, with Rev. Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at East Bennett Valley Cemetery, rural Eleva. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. Thursday until time of services at the church.
