Robert Insteness

Robert “Bob” Arnold Insteness, 67, of Strum, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, following a long courageous battle with many health problems. He was born January 14, 1943, in Whitehall to Arnold and Odella (Berg) Insteness. He graduated from Independence High School in 1961 and received a degree in drafting at the CVTC in Eau Claire. He worked for Fabritec and later worked at Uniroyal in Eau Claire for 22 years before retiring due to medical reasons. He also served 5 years in the army reserves. Bob married Darlene Myren on August 6, 1966. They raised two children together, Blake and Jennifer. Bob enjoyed playing on the Pleasantville Lions softball team with his cousins Larry, Lennis, Danny and Uncle Lawrence as coach. Bob often boasted that his kids were raised on the ball field. He was also an avid bowler at Club Midway for many years. He and Darlene have enjoyed many years of camping at Wildwood resort with their friends. He enjoyed fishing and passed this joy onto his kids and grandchildren. Bob was also an avid Packer and Brewer fan. His grandchildren were very special to him and he enjoyed watching their activities. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Strum; children, Blake (Jenny) Insteness of Hudson and Jennifer (Wayne) Larson of Strum; four grandchildren, Caitlin and Madison Insteness and Alex and Shane Arnold Larson; his mother-in-law, Eileen Myren of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Terry) Brekke of Whitehall; nephew, Tony (Kimberly) Brekke of Stoughton; niece, Sarah Brekke of St. Paul; an aunt, Mae Berg of Galesville; a step-uncle, Alvin (Donna) Skahaug of Strum and many cousins, friends, and his very special “Wildwood Friends”. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Howard Skahaug; paternal and maternal grandparents; father-in-law, Adolph Myren; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob was a very wonderful and caring man who will be missed by all whom had the pleasure of knowing him. Bob’s family would like to thank Dr. Steven Weiss and staff for their wonderful care over the years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Strum, with Rev. Christine Emerson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strum. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services at the church.
