Vincent E. Karasch, 83, of Independence, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at his home. Vincent was born January 22, 1927 in Montana Township, Buffalo County, to John and Rose (Marsolek) Karasch. He married Marian Koval on September 26, 1949 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Independence. Vincent and Marian owned and operated the Corner Restaurant in Whitehall for 10 years. He worked at Presto Industries in Eau Claire. He was the Water and Sewer Superintendent in Independence until retirement. He also worked for the State of Wisconsin Low Vision. Vincent was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Rosary Society. He was a member of Sura-Wiersgalla American Legion Post 186 of Independence. Survivors include his wife, Marian, of Independence; a son Gary (Linda) Karasch, of Mondovi; two grandchildren, Christina (Craig) Geissler of Eau Claire and Paula (Ben) Gryskiewicz of Bloomington, Minn.; two great-granddaughters, Cora Lynn Gryskiewicz and Annabelle Lynn Geissler. Vincent was preceded in death by a brother, A. J. Karasch; a sister, Clara Rebarchek and a granddaughter, Anna Marie Karasch. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence with Rev. David C. Kunz officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 8-10 a.m. Tuesday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence. Monday evening there will be a prayer service followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Vincent E.
