Elaine E. Christiana

Elaine E. Christiana, 78, of Independence, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Black River Falls Hospital. Elaine was born July 5, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., to James and Florence (Perrauldt) Reid. She married Fred Christiana. He died in1982. Elaine worked in restaurants for many years. She and her husband owned and operated Christiana’s Restaurant in Riverdale, Ill. until moving to Independence in the late 1980’s. She worked as a CNA at the Strum nursing home and then worked at Ashley Furniture until retirement. Elaine was a devoted Chicago Bear’s fan. Survivors include her three children, Diane Buddell of Peyton, Colo., Jeff (Beth Cook) Murray of Eau Claire and Les (Kathy) Christiana of New Lenox, Ill.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Doris Trudeau of Ontario, Canada; a dear friend, Jo Waldera of Independence; sister-in-law, Clara Reid of Frankfort, Ill; many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, with Rev.
