Alphonse "Allie" Sura

Alphonse “Allie” Sura, 91, of Independence, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center, Pigeon Falls. Allie was born August 8, 1927 in Chimney Rock Township, Trempealeau County, to Edmund and Elizabeth (Symicek) Sura. He married Bernice Reck September 27, 1949. She died June 23, 1995. The couple farmed in Maule Coulee. He enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Allie is survived by three sons, Ron “Fox” Sura of Independence, Gary Sura of Whitehall and Dave (Connie) Sura of Onalaska; five grandchildren, Briana, Olivia, Brandon, Travis and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and sister, Irene Kampa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday.
