Esther F. Killian

Esther F. Killian, 83, of Independence, died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Marinuka Manor Nursing Home, Galesville. Esther was born June 8, 1934 in Traverse Valley, rural Independence, to John and Julia (Lyga) Dubiel.  She married LaVerne Killian on May 23, 1950 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence.  He died November 17, 2014. The couple farmed in Burnside Township.  Esther loved her grandchildren, cooking and baking.  She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and PCCW. Survivors include her four children, Laverne E. Killian Jr. of Independence, David P. (Bev) Killian of Whitehall, James P. Killian Sr. of Independence and Judy (Bärry) Schmitt of Independence; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Clarence, Lawrence, Ernest and John Dubiel; three sisters, Blanche Nogosek, Eleanore Thoma and Florence Kreibich. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church on Thursday.
