Linus E. Pronschinske

January 8, 1933 — October 9, 2022

Linus E. Pronschinske, 89, of Independence, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 9, 2022, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. Linus was born on January 8, 1933, in Fountain City, to Alphonse and Agnes (Semling) Pronschinske. He married Phyllis Guza on September 26, 1955, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Independence. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight. He earned the rank of sergeant in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton in California and was honorably discharged in 1952. He worked construction for C.J. Woychik and then R.J. Jurowski as a carpenter until his retirement. During retirement, Linus worked maintenance at the Independence High School. Linus is survived by his wife of 67 years: Phyllis; children: Gordon (Laura) of Mondovi, Maynard (Mary Lou) of Cochrane, Annette Doelle (Dave) of Fountain City, and La Mae Murphy (Jack) of Hudson; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; brother: Clarence (Bev); sisters: Antonia Smeija and Lois Klimek-Deeren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Aaron, Quintin, Cletus and Franz; sisters: Ermina Pronschinske, Dorothy Schaub, Vera Wozney and Mary Lou Soppa; and many in-laws and other family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father George Thayilkuzhitottu officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Edison Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. Prayer Service with Rosary to follow. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at church. Burial with Military Honors presented by the Sura-Wiersgalla Post #186 will be in the church cemetery.
