Ted Suchla

Ted A. Suchla, 53, of Coon Valley and formerly of Independence, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in Independence.

Ted was born on January 13, 1971, to Ernest and Beatrice (Zilla) Suchla and raised in Independence. After graduating high school in Independence, Ted became a man of many talents. He was a truck driver, a carpenter on the side throughout his life, and most recently worked for Market and Johnson while also working many side jobs.

Ted loved spending time with family and friends and was always the life of the party. He had many passions such as for music, working on cars, collecting coins, and building things. Ted was a man of many talents and enjoyed showing off his exceptional carpentry skills that he completed with precision and creativity no matter the size of the task. We often thought he would purposely find an issue with one of his cars just so he had a reason to work on it. Ted would light up the room with his big smile, laugh and outgoing personality. He had a positive outlook no matter what he faced and was truly loved by those was close to. He always said, "a smile says it all".

Ted is survived by the love of his life: Heather Wiltse of Coon Valley; sons: Taylor (Chelsea) Suchla of Rochester and Gage Suchla of Coon Valley; step-daughter: Hailey Constanti of Coon Valley; grandchildren: Envy Suchla and River Suchla of Winona; mother: Betty of Independence; brothers: Ken (Margaret) Suchla and Bill (Rachael Ashley) Suchla all of Independence; sister: Betsy Suchla-Lewis (Micheal Hidalgo) of California; brother-in-law: Brad Johnson; niece: Barbara Suchla of Independence; brother-in-law, Bruce Brandenburg of Independence; sister-in-law, Patty Suchla of Cudahy; and many beloved nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Ernie; son: Brad Suchla; brothers: Richard, Steven and Daniel; sisters: Jean Suchla, Barbara Brandenburg, and Kim Suchla.

Family and friends are welcome for visitation and prayer from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Edison Funeral Home, Independence. Graveside service and burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Independence. Celebration of life to follow at Eagle's in Independence.
